Event 14: Recap

$350 + $50 Big Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

David DeNoon went on a heater and claimed the chip lead with fifty players remaining.  He rode that surge all the way to the final table, only surrendering the chip lead for a short time.  After a two hour heads-up battle, David came out on top, winning $18,334 and his first Borgata Open trophy.

Borgata regular Ilya Vasserman finished second for $10,083.  He was the short-stack when down to three players, but doubled up twice through third-place finisher Jordan Ludwick, then tripled up in a three-way all-in when he rivered a flush, taking the chip lead.

David DeNoon took the chip lead back when he busted Jordan Ludwick in another three-way all-in.  Jordan earned $5,805 for third.  The heads-up battle was on with David holding 1.7 million to Ilya Vasserman's 1 million.  During the two hour battle, the lead went back and forth.  At one point, Ilya had 2.2 of the 2.7 million chips in play, but David battled back to take the win.

This event drew 180 entrants for total buy-ins of $63,000.  The final 18 players got paid.  The entire tournament played out in about 15.5 hours, just two days before Thanksgiving.

David DeNoon busted out of this event once.  He had a set of Jacks and got in against a player with a flush draw.  The draw completed on the river and busted David to the rail.  He re-entered and went on an "insane rush of cards".  He said he "started getting cards like crazy" and took a huge chip lead with fifty players left.   David is a video technician for NBC who honed his poker skills online before Black Friday, when he joined the hoards of displaced online players migrating to live tournament play.

This is his biggest win at Borgata, but he had a near-miss during the 2013 Borgata Spring Poker Open when he finished 2nd in the $170 NLH event for $6,828.  He also waded through a field of over 6,600 players in the 2013 WSOP Main Event, finishing 403rd for $28,063.
