Event 4 Recap

$450 + $50 Omaha H/L 8B

When the chips went in on the final hand, it looked like another chop, which happens a lot in heads-up Omaha High/Low.  The board showed 7 5 4 rainbow and Hal Rotholz held Q332 for the low.  Hsiao 'Sasha' Liu held AJ75 for two pair.  The Ace on the turn gave Hal the wheel, the scoop, and the win.  He will collect $12,222 for first place and his first Borgata Open trophy.

Sasha Liu had to settle for second place and $6,635. She's a professional poker player from Indiana.

Third place went to another poker pro and Borgata regular Leonardo Palermo.  He started Day 2 and the final table as chip leader, but as Sasha Liu's stack climbed, Leonardo's fell.  She took the chip lead from him and he ended up taking third place and $4,190.

This two day event began with 80 players on Saturday at 3pm and when 2am rolled around, thirteen players remained to bag up their chips.  Total buy-ins came to $36,000 and only the final nine would get paid.  Thirteen players returned for Day 2 at 12 noon Sunday and four of them left with nothing, including Lonnie Heimowitz, who has more than half a million dollars in lifetime tournament earnings.

Hal Rotholz is a Director of Products and has to get back to work.  He can only play on the weekends, so we won't be seeing him again during this series.  He'll be back in January for the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open.
