Ray Snoots is all in for 42k (2 bb) and gets calls from Sam Keyrouze and Chuck Newmark.

Keryouze and Newmark check the board of J-2-8-3, but Kerouze throws out a 20k bet when a King hits the river.  Newmark folds and Snoots sees the bad news as Keyrouze tables K9 for a pair of Kings.

"Had you to the river," says Snoots who shows QJ.

Snoots finishes in 10th place for $1,106.

Michael Marucci is the final table bubble boy after Chris Bourassa cracks Marucci's AA to cripple his stack.  Marucci limps with AA and Bourassa sticks around with 5 7 and ends up with quad 7s for 124k double-up.

Marucci is eventually knocked out by Larry DiGiovanna (A8 vs T7) to finish in 11th place for $1,106.

Marc Berger has a volatile time at the final two tables as he was down to crumbs after losing a three-way all in with AK (vs AA and JJ). He rebuilt his stack by hitting a miracle straight, but after a few rough hands was left with only 1k after paying the small blind.

Berger is all in with 83 against the pocket Kings of Gerard Ciofalo, but this time there's no miracle.  Berger finishes in 12th place for $1,106.

Event 4 Recap

$450 + $50 Omaha H/L 8B

When the chips went in on the final hand, it looked like another chop, which happens a lot in heads-up Omaha High/Low.  The board showed 7 5 4 rainbow and Hal Rotholz held Q332 for the low.  Hsiao 'Sasha' Liu held AJ75 for two pair.  The Ace on the turn gave Hal the wheel, the scoop, and the win.  He will collect $12,222 for first place and his first Borgata Open trophy.

Sasha Liu had to settle for second place and $6,635. She's a professional poker player from Indiana.

Third place went to another poker pro and Borgata regular Leonardo Palermo.  He started Day 2 and the final table as chip leader, but as Sasha Liu's stack climbed, Leonardo's fell.  She took the chip lead from him and he ended up taking third place and $4,190.

This two day event began with 80 players on Saturday at 3pm and when 2am rolled around, thirteen players remained to bag up their chips.  Total buy-ins came to $36,000 and only the final nine would get paid.  Thirteen players returned for Day 2 at 12 noon Sunday and four of them left with nothing, including Lonnie Heimowitz, who has more than half a million dollars in lifetime tournament earnings.

Hal Rotholz is a Director of Products and has to get back to work.  He can only play on the weekends, so we won't be seeing him again during this series.  He'll be back in January for the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open.

Final Results
1 - Hal Rotholz (New York, NY)  $12,222
2 - Hsiao 'Sasha' Liu (Lawrenceburg, IN)  $6,635

FINAL RESULTS

Event 4: 1st Place - Rotholz

$450 + $50 Omaha H/L 8B

Hal Rotholz (New York, NY)
$12,222

When the chips went in on the final hand, it looked like another chop, which happens a lot in heads-up Omaha High/Low.  The board showed 7 5 4 rainbow and Hal Rotholz held Q332 for the low.  Hsiao 'Sasha' Liu held AJ75 for two pair.

The Ace on the turn gave Hal the wheel, the scoop, and the win.  He will collect $12,222 for first place and his first Borgata Open trophy.

Event 4: 2nd Place - Liu

 $450 + $50 Omaha H/L 8B

Limits 30k/60k
 Hsiao 'Sasha' Liu (Lawrenceburg, IN)
$6,635

The heads-up battle finally saw a lead change after a big pot that Liu raised pre-flop.  The river was a King and Hal Rotholz took the pot with KK52 (set of Kings).  Liu did not show, but said she had flopped a set.  After that pot, Hal led with about 850k to Liu's 350k.

They continued to battle, trading pots until another key hand.  On the river the board read T T 2 4 Q and Hal bet.  Liu thought about it, then called.  Hal tabled AQT9 for the full house to scoop the pot.

Liu was left short-stacked and got all-in with AJ75 against Hal's Q332 on a flop of 7 5 4 rainbow.  Her two pair was good for half against his low, but then an Ace on the turn gave Hal the wheel and the scoop.  River was a useless 2.

Sasha Liu had to settle for second place and $6,635.  She's a professional poker player and I expect we'll be seeing more of her in this series.

Event 4: Still Heads-Up

 $450 + $50 Omaha H/L 8B

Level 22: Limits 20k/40k

The final two continue to battle back and forth.

Hal Rotholz bet the river on a paired/flush board with no low possible.  Hsiao Liu called with a flush and scooped.

Limits up to 30k/60k

On a 9 3 2 rainbow flop, Liu checked, Hal bet and Liu check-raised.  Hal called.  Both checked the 7 turn and 4 river.  Liu showed KKxx.  Hal showed Q642 for two pair to scoop.

The heads-up battle continues with Hsiao Liu holding about 800k to Hal Rotholz' 400k.

Event 4: 3rd Place - Palermo

$450 + $50 Omaha H/L 8B

Level 22: Limits 20k/40k

Leonardo Palermo (Jackson, NJ)
$4,190

Hal Rotholz has started to climb back into this event, scooping a couple of pots from Hsiao Liu.

Then Leonardo Palermo called from the button and Hal raised from the small blind.  Leonardo called.

On the flop of K 5 5, both checked.  Turn was a 4 and Hal bet.  Leonardo folded, leaving only about 25k behind.

On the next hand, Leonardo had 20k in for the big blind.  Hsiao Liu raised from the small and Leonardo put his last few chips in.

Liu:  AQ95 (spades)
Leonardo: QTT6

Board: 8 6 3 A K with 3 spades

Hsiao Liu made a flush and low to scoop the pot.  Leonardo busted out in 3rd place, earning $4,190.

At the start of heads-up play, Hsiao Liu has a slight lead with 674k to Hal Rotholz' 526k.

Event 4: Liu Crushing

Level 22: Limits 20k/40k

Limits have just gone up.

Hsiao Liu continues to crush the table.  She's up to ~880k.

Hal Rotholz has ~210k.

Leonardo Palermo has ~120k.

Event 4: 4th Place - Schiffman

$450 + $50 Omaha H/L 8B

Level 21: Limits 16k/32k

Ron 'Schifty' Schiffman (Las Vegas, NJ)
$3,143

Ron 'Schifty' Schiffman fell prey to the ever-increasing limits.  He got his last chips in with some possibilities, but whiffed and was busted by Hsiao Liu, whose big stack got bigger.

Ron finished in 4th place, earning $3,143.

Event 4: 5th Place - Lynch

$450 + $50 Omaha H/L 8B

Level 21: Limits 16k/32k

Robert Lynch (Manalapan, NJ)
$2,444

Hal Rotholz raised to 32k from the cutoff, then Hsiao Liu raised again to 48k from the button.  Robert Lynch (sb) raised to 64k, leaving only 2k behind.  Hal and Hsiao both called.

On the flop of A♠K2♠, it was checked to Liu, who bet 16k.  Robert tossed in his last 2k and Hal folded.

Robert:  QT52 (pair of deuces)
Liu:  K♠KJT♠ (set of Kings, flush draw)

The last two came Q♠5♣ and Liu made the flush on the turn to scoop the pot since Robert couldn't make a low.  He busted out in 5th place, earning $2,444.

With that pot, Hsiao Liu chipped up to over 600k.

Rough counts for the other three:

Hal Rotholz - 320k
Leonardo Plaermo - 160k

Event 3 Recap

$350 + $50 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

At a final table that featured multiple Borgata trophy winners and more than $2 million in career tournament earnings, it was a newbie who stole the show.  In his first ever casino tournament Marvin Hayes (Brooklyn, NY) beat them all at the Borgata Fall Poker Open.

Hayes' defeated "Action" Bob Hwang (Barnegat, NJ) heads up when he hit a flush while holding 7♣ 5♣ and had Hwang drawing dead.

"It's definitely a surprise," said Hayes' who turned a $400 investment into $53,637. "I can't wait to tell everybody."

"Congratulations Marvin it was a pleasure playing with you," said Hwang who won a 2005 Borgata bracelet (pre trophy era) and now has $1.3 million in live earnings.

"It's tough to win tournaments," said Hwang, but it was Hayes' who made it look easy. He built up a big stack just before the money bubble and was one of the chip leaders the rest of the way.

"I definitely never thought I'd make to the end," said the truck driver who plays mostly in home games. "When I got in the 60s (players remaining), I was happy to double my money."

Hayes decided to try this tournament after hearing from friend Steve Jiminez that "Borgata was the most prestigious place to play in A.C."

"He's one of the best guys in the (home) game," said Jiminez who showed up late for the event and was on the rail, "and that's much props over AZ the hip hop star."

Hayes' grooved to his own music where it was a Borgata Dancing with the Stars type final table. In addition to Hwang, there were two, two-time trophy winners in Manh Nguyen and Brian O'Donoghue.

Nguyen bluffed most of his chips in a 7 million chip pot when Hayes' called his 2 million all-in bet on the river. "I bluffed with air," said Nguyen, who finished 7th. "I thought if he was all in I could get him off the hand."

A few minutes later O'Donoghue, who was 6th, sent his stack to Hwang who flopped a full house with pocket Queens. A another landmine Hayes avoided was 9th place finisher Eddie Blumenthal who has more than $600,000 in career earnings after a runner-up finish at the 2011 WSOP.

The field began with 658 entries and produced a total buy-in of $230,300. Borgata regulars who made the money included three-time Borgata trophy winner Howard Wolper (48th), Sheree Bykofsky (31st) and Tim Little (17th).

"When I got to the 20s (players remaining), I thought I could do it," said Hayes. "Then when I got to the main (final) table, I knew I had to really, really play.

"I came down here saying, 'win or lose, at least I tried and I enjoyed it.'"

Hayes did more than that and said, "this was bigger and better than I ever thought it would be."

The hand gives Hayes the 6.8 million chip pot and cripples Nguyen who eventually goes out with Q9 suited against Brian O'Donoghue's pocket 10s.
