Event 6C: Fireworks Before Break

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 12: Blinds 1k/2k/300 ante

Friedman Points to the Side Pot, as Chan (light blue)
Waits for His Triple-up.  Zhou (partially blocked) can Barely Watch

The last two hands before break are brutal for Wu Zhou (State College, PA) who has KK and AA cracked on back-to-back hands.  "Most people would be out," says an impressed Nate Meschberg (Brooklyn, NY), "to still be in is amazing."

Meschberg hands Zhou the first bad beat with AK against Zhou's KK for a 38k hit. Zhou is then in a three-way all in with Kirron Chan (Yonkers, NY) and Daniel Friedman (Smithtown, NY).

Zhou (84k): A A♠
Chan (72k): A♣ K♠
Friedman (100k): J♠ J

Flop: Q♣ 6♣ 3♣ (Chan, nut flush draw)

Turn: 9♣ (Chan flush)

River: 8

Chan's winning flush puts him near the top of the chip counts with 220k, while Zhou and Friedman are both on life support.

"I want to give a shout out to my wife who's home with our new baby," says Chan, as he beams about Jennifer and son Dylan,"

Chan is now even with Joe Liberta (Berlin, NJ) who's been over 200k for the last few levels.

This is the last break of the night as play continues for four more levels before the field bags and tags at ~ 2 am.

Event 6C: Tales from the Felt

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 12 Blinds 1k/2k/300 ante

With just one main event running right now, we've seen a drop off in our Twitter feed so we always appreciate players who keep us updated on their progress.

A reminder to tweet @BorgataPoker while using #BFP.

We haven't heard from @misterashmoney or @JosephLiberta, who are both still in the field. In the meantime here are some recent exit tweets:

Event 6C: Liberta Leads, Dever in the Mix

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 11: Blinds 800/1,600/200 ante

Joe Liberta

As Flight C rolls on, big stacks are starting to emerge. Joe Liberta (Berlin, NJ) is up to 170k and is on the table with Asher Conniff (Brooklyn, NY) who has chip envy and tried to photo bomb the chip leader's photo.

Cathy Dever (Ephrata, PA) is in a group of players who are in the 120k-140k range.

160 players (of 368 Flight C entries) remain with an average stack 47k (30 bb).

Remembering "Little Man"

Mike "Little Man" Sica

It's been a tough day for players here at Borgata as Mike Sica was laid to rest this morning. Over the last few days the outpouring of warmth and fondness for "Little Man" has been overwhelming.

Here are two more examples of how everyone is feeling.

Two time Borgata trophy holder and WSOP bracelet winner Ryan Eriquezzo wrote this heartfelt tribute, while Chris Short, aka ColonelPoker on the Borgata Blog, turned in the following thoughts.

The following is a look back at how Mike became known as "Little Man," and why so many people loved him.
---------------------

Two years ago while blogging at Borgata, I interviewed Mike Sica for a player profile.  The following comes from notes I jotted down during our chat:

Event 6: Tweeters Back at it

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Blinds 500/1k/100 ante

Re-entries are done, blinds are up and tweets are out:

Event 6: Last Chance to Enter

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Blinds 400/800/75 ante

There's just a few minutes left in the level and it's the last chance to enter this three flight event.  Once again players have helped smash the $100,000 Guarantee by getting more than double the number of entries needed.

Short stacks are looking for on last double-up. Players who forfeit their chips and re-enter will get a fresh 20k stack.

On the upcoming break the green (25) chips will be removed and when play resumes, players will be left with the only the bullet in the chamber.

Event 6C: Survival Mode

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 8: 400/800/75 ante

A couple of players who won $2,000 in yesterday's Bounty tournament are rolling over their winnings into this event.

Tim Bryan (Centerville, VA) and Christine Brewer (Port Monmouth, NJ) are both in the field.

Here's Brewer's tweet from early this morning.

Event 6C: Field Passes 1k Total

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 7: 300/600/75 ante

The 350+ entries in Flight C puts the total number of entries of all three flights at 1,000+ and counting. Registration is open through the break after Level 8 (~9:30 pm).

The current average stack is 31k (52 bb).

Event 6B: Bagging the Bonuses

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

 Dowling & Martin

Bart Dowling (Bronx, NY) and Margaret Martin (Staten Island, NY) are not only the two big stacks, but they bag the end of night bonuses.

Dowling's 460k gets him $1,000 as chip leader, while Martin earns $500 for bagging 346,500 for second place.

"I've never made it past the first day," says Martin, who has multiple small cashes in one-day tournaments. "I got my money (chips) in the right spots and got lucky."

For Dowling his day was more about experience.  "I'm starting to come into my own," says Dowling, who is also the overall chip leader after two flights. "I've been spotty and not playing that much. I'm trying to get here 3 or 4 times a month. I wasn't even going to come today, but I need the practice for next week."

Dowling is preparing for the Borgata Fall Poker Open Championship Event, but first he has to navigate the Day 2 field as play resumes noon Tuesday.

Through the first two flights ~75 players remain with an average stack of 176k (29 bb) with blinds moving to 3k/6k/500 ante.  A full list of players and the Day 2 table draw will be posted after 10 am after the conclusion of the 5 pm Flight C.

Flight B Big Stacks

Bart Dowling 460,000
Margaret Martin 346,500
Zaur Mamedov 320,000

James Andrade 307,000
Michael Garrigan 260,500
Kal Awan 260,000

Event 6B: M. Martin Joins 300k Club

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Blinds 2,500/5k/500 ante

MM up to 300k

Margaret Martin (Staten Island, NY) is one of the few stacks up to 300k as she looks to make a run at the end of night bonuses. She know she has work to do after walking past Bart Dowling's (Bronx, NY) 400k stack.

This is the last level of the night for the 11 am flight.

 Dowling Passes 400k

Event 6C: ABC Poker

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Blinds 100/200

Poker Room, Flight C

New tables keep opening in the Poker Room and the entries are up to 275. No players are willing to admit they played in flights A, B & C, but we found several BC players and one who is on the AC schedule.

The total numbers of entries to date are as follows:

Flight A: 201
Flight B: 459 (unofficial)
Flight C: 275+

Total Entries: 935+

Registration for Flight C is open until 9:30 pm.

Event 6B: Chip Lead Update

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 15:  Blinds 2k/4k/400 ante

John Lynch

John Lynch is the new chip leader with ~300k.

Bart Dowling is close behind with  about 280k.

The top two in chips at the end of level 16 will earn $1,000 and $500 bonuses.

Only ten tables remain in Flight B.

Just one more level to play after this one, then players will bag up for the night.

Event 6B: Break Time

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

End of Level 12:  Blinds 1k/2k/300 ante

Leonardo Palermo - Finished 3rd in Event 4

Leonardo Palermo flopped a set of Kings and busted an opponent.  Leonardo is up to ~100k.

 Bart Dowling

Bart Dowling's pocket 8s held up against a shorter-stack's AK with a runout of J 6 4 4 6.  Another player hit the rail and Bart chipped up to ~235k and may be the chip leader.

David Kim is at about 230k.

Mike Kalfa is up to ~180k.

Event 6C: Checking In Via Twitter

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 1:  Blinds 25/50

Lots of familiar Tweeters checking in for Flight C via Twitter:

Event 6C: Flight C Underway

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 1:  Blinds 25/50

Flight C, the final starting flight of event 6, is underway in the Poker Room.

Twenty-seven tables are up and running with about a dozen players in line to register.

Players started with 20,000 chips and levels are 30 minutes long.

They will play 16 levels (no dinner break) and bag up for the night.

Survivors will return for Day 2 on Tuesday at 12 noon.

Event 6: Blinds Up, Players Down

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 12:  Blinds 1k/2k/300 ante

Action is heating up as players are busting out and tables are breaking down.

On the turn with a board of 7 6 5 5, Rick Rossetti was all-in and Leonardo Palermo was in the tank.  Leonardo surrendered and Rick let him 'pick one' card to see.  Leonardo turned over a 4 and seemed satisfied.  Rick chipped up to ~55k.

Chris Baud was all-in for his last 17,400 and got one thinker, but no callers.

Joe Pitti was all-in with A6 against Mike Kalfa's AK.  The board ran out Q J 7 A 5 and was no help to Joe.  He headed for the door.  Not sure if he's planning to try again in Flight C.

Jack 'the Snake' Deutsch has also busted out.

Down to 17 tables.

Event 6: BK Big Stack Busted

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 11:  Blinds 800/1,600/200 ante

David Kim

Former big stack DJ BK has busted out.  Apparently he got rivered twice by David Kim, who hit sets both times on the river.

David is up to ~245k and may be the chip leader.

Down to 19 tables already -- 190 players -- remaining in Flight B.

Event 6: Tweet Outs (Until Flight C)

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 10:  Blinds 600/1,200/200 ante

Just before the blinds went up, the last tables from the Poker Room were moved over here to The Signature Room, so the entire Flight B field is in one room.

A few players that busted out before the break opted to wait until Flight C:

Event 6: Play Resumes, Registration Closed for B

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 9:  Blinds 500/1,000/100 ante

The green 25 chips have been colored up and removed from play.

Players are back in action with no more re-entries in this flight.  Tables should start breaking down quickly now.

Players who bust out can try again in Flight C, starting at 5pm.

Event 6: Break Time

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

End of Level 8:  Blinds 400/800/75 ante

Rick Rossetti was seen entering The Signature Room to take his seat.  Not sure if this is a late arrival or re-entry.

Kiron Chan & Jason Deutsch were spotted playing in the Poker Room.

Level 8 is done and players are on their second break of the day.

At the end of this break, registration will close for Flight B, so this is the last chance to get into this flight.

Registration will still be open for Flight C, which starts at 5PM.

Event 6: BK Busts Four On One Hand

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Level 8:  Blinds 400/800/75 ante

DJ BK

During the previous level:

On a flop of Q T 9, three players were already all-in and the action was to DJ BK.  He gave it some thought before moving all-in with J8 suited (flopped straight).  One more player got all his chips in the middle and BK's hand held up.  He busted all four opponents who had either two pair or top pair.

He's now cruising with about 160k, eight times the starting stack of 20k.

Event 6: More Faces

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Players are on break at the end of level 4.  They've got 15 minutes to eat, drink, and be merry -- then it's back to the felt for level 5 (blinds 150/300/25 ante).

The player count showing on the monitors in the Poker Room (which includes the 201 entries from 1A and and pre-registrations for 1C) is already over 500, so the guarantee of $100,000 on total buy-ins has been met.

Event 6: End of Day Bonuses

These bonuses are NOT being offered in Flight C that starts at 5pm, so if you want to try for the bonuses, you need to get into this flight.

Late registration for Flight B is open through the break after level 8 (about 3:30pm).  Players who bust out of Flight B can re-enter Flight B until registration closes.

Players who bust out of Flight B can enter Flight C any time until registration closes for that flight, which will be about 9:30pm.

Players who make it to the end of Flight B (about 8pm) and bag chips can try again in Flight C if they want, and take their 'best' stack into Day 2.

Event 5 Recap

$300 + $40 Seniors No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

In a field of veteran warhorses, there was a photo finish between six thoroughbreds to determine the winner of the Seniors Event of the Borgata Fall Poker Open.

While many felt it was a dead heat, the official winner was horse trainer Sam Keyrouze (Harrisburg, PA), who nosed out Chris Bourassa (2nd), Chuck Newmark (3rd), Jose Gonzalez (4th), Larry DiGiovanna (5th) and Robert DaCosta (6th).

"It's fun to play the seniors," said Keyrouze, who earned $16,585 and the Borgata trophy, "It's nice to play with guys your own age."

While another great event is in the books, there was a noticeable absence without Borgata legend Mike Sica.  "Little Man" passed away a few days before the tournament, which was always one of his favorites.

The field featured many of Mike's peers who played in his honor.

Third place finisher Chuck Newmark summed up the day with a sense of humor that "Little Man" would have appreciated.

"I picked this event because I can't last longer than one day," joked Newmark.

A laugh and a smile is what the Seniors tournament is all about.
